MCom, Law students’ 5-month wait for MU results continues...

- STAFF REPORTER

Students of Master of Commerce (MCom) and Bachelor of Law (LLB) course have been waiting since five months for the results of winter semester examinations of Mumbai University (MU). 13 results of winter semester examinations have not been declared as the answer scripts are pending to be assessed.

The university last week claimed they will declare all results within eight to ten days but it has been two weeks and still results are pending. In addition, students are already appearing and preparing for summer semes- ter examinations while they are waiting for results of winter examinations which were conducted in December and January.

Around 1,000 answer scripts of MCom semester III exams are pending while over 3,000 answer scripts of LLB are yet to be assessed. Arjun Ghatule, in-charge director and controller of Board of Examination of MU, had assured in the last press briefing, on April 26, “The pending assessment will be completed and results will be declared within eight to ten days. The results of MCom will be declared within three days.”

Students complained the university is not adhering to their claim and re- peated promises. Jignesh Upadhyay, a student said, “We are waiting since January for our results. We are students of Post-Graduate (PG) courses and have plans for various job opportunities. Any kind of delay in our results affects our career and academic plan. The university should not make any promises if they cannot fulfil it.”

The university claimed the lack of teachers in these courses is the reason for the delay. A senior official of MU said, “There is a lack of teachers for MCom and Law course. The teachers involved in Law are practicing lawyers while we require PG teachers for MCom as it is a post-graduate programme so we are facing a delay.”
