-

The Maharashtra chief secretary, Dinesh Kumar Jain, got a pleasant surprise visitor in the middle of his hectic schedule on Wednesday.

During the official visit by Bangadeshi media people, Jain was shocked to meet his schoolmate in Mantralaya.

A delegation of Bangladesh media are on a two-day tour to India. During their Mumbai visit, a meeting with Jain was scheduled at 6 pm on Wednesday. Generally, meeting with foreign delegates, strict protocols are followed by the state administration. There are no informal discussion and officials cannot go beyond the set agenda.

The members of the delegation were recalling their memories of Mumbai. They shared how crazy fans are in Bangladesh of Hindi films and the stars. The members then discussed on commercial relations and industrial investment between the two countries.

As soon as the discussion begun, Altamas Kabir, one of the members stood up suddenly and went straight to CS. Gesticulating for a hand shake Kabir said, "Hello friend, I am Altamas Kabir. We are childhood friend. We are from the same school and in fact were in the same class." Jain immediately recognised Kabir and all could read the look of surprise on his face.

Kabir is currently the editor of Dainik Sangbaad, renowned newspaper of Bangladesh.

Jain recalled memories of 1971 to 1976 when he and Kabir studied at 'Mayo Secondary School' in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Both were classmates from sixth to eleventh standard. The mood of the formal meeting completely changed to a warm and person one, which is rare in such official meetings.

The remaining discussion proceeded informally with a lot of banter.

Kabir invited his school friend to visit Bangladesh.
