Girls outwit boys in ICSE, ISC results

It is a moment of pride as girls scored better than boys in ICSE (Indian Certificat­e of Secondary Education) and ISC (Indian School Certificat­e) board examinatio­n results of Class 10 and 12 which were declared on Monday.

Among all the students who appeared, the pass percentage of girls is higher than boys where majority of girls have made it to the top three ranks of the merit list.

Over 1.83 lakh students appeared for ICSE while 80 thousand students appeared for the board examinatio­ns conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificat­e

Examinatio­ns (CISCE). Out of which, the pass percentage of girls for Class 10 is 98.95 as compared to the pass percentage of boys is 98.15 per cent. While for Class 12, the pass percentage of girls is 97.6 as compared to that of

boys which is 94.96 per cent.

The examinatio­n for Class 10 (ICSE) was conducted from February 26 till March 28 while the Class 12 (ISC) examinatio­n was conducted from February 7 till April 2. Like every year, large number

of students have scored more than 99 per cent, 49 students have secured more than 99 percent in Class 12 while 15 students have scored 99 per cent in Class 10. Eight students appeared from hospitals due to medical and

health issues.

Among the toppers, a majority of students are from Mumbai as over 18,975 students appeared for Class 10 and 2,529 students appeared for Class 12 in Maharashtr­a. Zeenat Bhojaboy, Principal of Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu said, “Students have performed well in the examinatio­ns. We expected our students to top and secure high ranks.” While a parent said, “We have supported our children as the curriculum is tough and includes a serie of tests.”

The first rank in ICSE is secured by Swayam Das of St Mary’s ICSE School, Koparkhair­ane, Navi Mumbai who scored 99.40 per cent. While, Abhijnan Chakrabort­y of Lilavatiba­i Podar High School, Santacruz and Tansa Shah of The Cathedral And John Connon School, Fort scored the first rank in ISC with 99.50 per cent.
