Soon, you could file SRA’s RTI pleas online

The Slum Rehabilitation Authority is all set to create a software for the citizens in order to help them file an Right to Information (RTI) application online.

The slum authority has given the task of preparing the software to a firm called ‘Net Creative Mind’ and it is set to be completed by June 15.

The SRA authorities said the new software would ease the work of the citizens who are willing to file an RTI. Daily at least 25 to 30 people which includes the citizens and RTI activists visit the SRA office to submit their RTI application.

“The process is a bit tedious for citizens to come to office and fill up an RTI form. The RTI applicant is then required to submit the filled form to the Public Relations Officer of SRA,” said an SRA official.

Once the software is updated on the SRA website, the citizens would not be required to come to SRA office to submit their RTI application.

“The appointed firm is working on 5 RTI applications and trying to upload the form online. Within a month’s time, the software will be open for public use,” added the official.

The SRA has already launched a letter tracking system in order to track the complaint letter submitted to SRA through online system.

Earlier, the process was done manually where each department used to share a number with the complainant.

“We have centralized our the process in terms of tracking the complaint letter number. The complainant can avoid visiting the SRA office multiple times in order to know the status of the letter. In this way, we are slowly moving into digitization,” added the official.

The SRA is also working on several web portals including preparing a system to track the projects online and to know its status.
