Regain Lost Paradise

- — T.G.L. Iyer

Jiddu Krishnamurthy once said, “Do you know what it means to be sensitive? It means, surely to have a tender feeling for things, to see an animal suffering and do something about it; to remove a stone from the path because so many bare feet would walk over it. To be sensitive is to feel for people, for birds, for flowers, for trees, not because they are yours but just because you are awake to the extraordinary beauty of things. Above all you want to help, to give and be part of the salvation!”

There is the story of a famous football team, which won the championship trophy but as there was an ineligible player in the team, they returned the trophy, much to the amazement of everyone. Many said that they deserved the win and were the real champions.

The captain, however, said, “By giving it back, we have won freedom from guilt and become the real champions.”

Everyone cannot be the best in this world. Only one person can be the best. But none can prevent you if you try to become the best. The price of living is giving. To become integrated you have to connect the parts, give space and come together.

Life in itself has no intrinsic value. We have to add value to it. We have to decide whether our tenure or duration on this planet should be a privilege and joy, or a misery and despair. It is our choice; our life. We can make it bright or dark.

How do we do this? By giving away the treasures we have like goodness, love, compassion and joy which are of little value to us when they are not shared but are of tremendous value to the recipient who is thirsting for it all the time. If we hold our breath too long, we may become unconscious. The lifegiving act of breathing requires us to exhale as much as we inhale. When we fill the world with a portion of our worth, we become replenished. When our bank account is high, we feel rich and prosperous. If an emergency wipes out our investments we feel poor. Remember that we have not changed; we are the same people. By aligning with our source from which all channels flow, we remain prosperous, regardless of our circumstances.
