-

Facebook is the most favourite platform on social media where friends meet, make new friends, and chat with them. This we all know, but Kalyan resident Ninad Telgote has a different story to tell about Facebook. He was cheated by his female Facebook friend for whooping amount of 3 lakh. Police is looking out for this woman and also an Nigerian who is involved in the racket.

The Crime Branch unit 1 of Thane police has arrested an accused who is allegedly involved in this racket. The accused is identified as Abdul Kacchi (40), a Navi Mumbai resident.

Ninad Telgote befriended Sylvia through Facebook. Ninad, an educated unemployed, wanted to do some business. Sylvia lured him to invest money in a scheme, where a company from UK would buy the ‘blue blood of crab’. A person will have to pay certain amount for each litre of blood. Ninad paid Rs 366,000 for 2 litre blood. The gang demanded more money, but Ninad, by that time, suspected the foul game. He then complained in Kalwa police station. The crime branch was investigating the matter and arrested Abdul Kacchi form Panvel. Kacchi has been already a case registered against him in Kasarwadavali police station of Thane.

The racket has an international thread as a Nigerian citizen is involved in the racket, police informed. The racket is luring many in various states, and have appealed people not to invest any such scheme.

“The gang has a modus operandi as they will lure the investors by conveying them of lesser price for rare products. If one sells these products they will earn the huge amount, was the promise they made to every investor. We appeal people not to invest in any such schemes that will lure you,” said Nitin Thakre, Senior Police Inspector , Crime Branch unit 1.
