MP to unveil achievements and plans about state’s agricultural revolution
With an aim to highlight the success story of agriculture in Madhya Pradesh, The Free Press Journal and Moneycontrol.com along with the Government of Madhya Pradesh will hold a conference on May 27. More than 400 people are expected to attend the conference on ‘MP’s glorious agri-revolution’ that will take place at Marriott, Indore on Sunday.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, will deliver the keynote address. The event will also be graced by the presence of the Minister of farmer welfare and agriculture development, Gorishankar Bisen.
The conference will subsequently dwell on two themes – through panel discussions. The first panel discussion will be on namely ‘What made Madhya Pradesh’s agriculture programme succeed’. The session will dwell on the strategies pursued by the state government during the past 15 years which helped it emerge as a state with one of the highest rates of growth in agriculture in India. It will discuss the challenges faced, and the achievements notched up during this period. The panellists involved during this discussion will include (in alphabetical order) Narendra Dhandre, Netafim; Jai P Mishra, Advisor, Agriculture, Niti Aayog; Amitabh Mohan, DGM, Nabard; Rajnikant Rai, CEO, ITC-Agro; and Rajesh Rajora, Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Government of MP. While the second panel is being organised, Badruddin Khan from MCX will make a short presentation of what MCX has to offer to the agricultural sector.
The second panel will focus on ‘Future directions for Madhya Pradesh’. The idea is to chalk out possible strategies that the state may choose to adopt if it wants to push up its gross state domestic product (GSDP) further, and in turn allow its farmers and allied sectors to earn that much more. The panellists will include (once more in alphabetical order) Bharat Char, Lead Biotechnology, Mahyco Ltd; Rama Chari, Head, Materials Science Division, RRCAT; Suhas Joshi, head of Strategy, Bayer India; S P Mohanty, CMD, Hind Insecticides limited; and Amit Vatsyayan, Partner, EY.
Both sessions will be moderated by consulting editor, R N Bhaskar.
The conference would focus on creating awareness about the vision of the state government, and the ways and means to improve value addition for agriculture in particular and for the entire state in general. The sessions would also discuss various employment generation opportunities the state can create by exploring future possibilities.
