- STAFF REPORTER

Students who have cleared Class 12 board examinations can now apply for admissions to degree courses through the online pre-admission process of the Mumbai University (MU). Students seeking admissions in colleges affiliated to MU can register online at mum.digitaluniversity.ac starting from Friday.

Students wanting to study various undergraduate (UG) courses need to undergo this pre-admission registration process which will go on till June 14 as it is mandatory. Students can then fill the admission forms of respective degree colleges where they wish to apply. This pre-admission registration process allows students to apply for more than one college and course.

Students will have to attach this pre-enrolment form when they apply for admissions at various degree colleges. This process will be conducted based on merit lists by various colleges for all streams. And like every year, students will have check the merit lists of colleges either offline or on the website of various colleges.

The university aims to keep a track of students through this registration process. A senior officer of the MU said, “Students should visit mum.digitaluniversity.ac website and click on Mumbai University Pre Admission Online Registration 2018-19 for registration. It helps us to generate student data necessary for examinations, hall tickets and results.” Students can contact helpline number +91 8411860004 for any queries.

Students who wish to apply for admissions in autonomous colleges can apply directly to those respective colleges. There is a high level of curiosity regarding autonomous colleges.

Kiran Mehta, a student said, “Recently, some Mumbai colleges have gained autonomy and we are keen to know of the courses they offer. Hopefully their curriculum will be different, multiple options for choice of subjects and languages.”

There are handful still who believe in the MU affiliated colleges due to their fee structure. Rishabh Singh, a student said, “We will still opt for the regular courses offered by the Mumbai University. The autonomous colleges have higher fees which is not an incentive.”
