Sourabh is happy people recognise him off-screen

-

Known for playing the role of Krishna in the television show Mahabharat and that of Lord Shiva in Mahakaali – Anth hi Aarambh hai , actor Sourabh Raaj Jain finds it hard to believe that people still recognise him when he is not in his character’s avatar off-screen. “It’s quite strange, but I do get recognised even after all the costume-based shows that I have done and am still doing. I guess that’s also because I have played various characters like Anand in Parichay and Yuvraj in Uttaran besides anchoring Savdhaan India,” he says.

The actor has often had hectic schedule, however, he always finds a way to take out time for his family. “Luckily, I am doing a weekend show and that is less hectic then doing a daily show. But yes, shooting happens in Umargaon, which sometimes takes a toll on me and my family. But it’s not that difficult as I have a wonderful, supportive family. I make sure to spend as much time with them as I can,” he says.

Ask him if he feels that marital status of an actor affects their popularity, and he says, “Maybe yes or maybe no, I am not too sure of either of the two. Ideally, it should just be your work that should be the reason for your popularity, but at the same time I do see lots of temporary relationships being in the limelight.”

Not many know, but Sourabh was also a radio anchor, sometime back, a job he says has helped him become a good actor. “That was one amazing year of work and learning. Being on the radio was tough as it is just your voice that does all the work. I learned to modulate my voice in the process and that has helped me a lot to become a better actor,” he says.
