IIT-B ranks 162nd in world varsity rankings
IIT-B has moved up 17 places as it ranked 179, last year. The institute has ranked first in India, with an overall score of 48.2 out of 100.
MUMBAI: Among the various universities from across the world, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-Bombay) has secured the 162nd rank this year in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. Three Indian universities feature in the top 200 universities of the QS World University rankings including Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and IIT-Delhi.
IIT-B has moved up 17 places as it ranked 179, last year, while this year it is ranked at 162. The results were released on Wednesday by QS, a British company which links achievers, graduates and executive communities around the world with business schools, postgraduate departments at universities through events, eguides and technical solutions.
IIT-B ranks first in India, with an overall score of 48.2 out of 100. The institute has a score of 52.5 of academic repute, 72.9 in employer reputation, 54.1 in citation per faculty, 43.3 in faculty student ratio, 4.4 in international faculty and 1.8 in international students, all scores out of a maximum of 100 points. Among these six parameters, employer reputation is the strongest one for IIT-B with a rank of 93 globally.
Authorities of IIT-B claimed they are overwhelmed with the improvement in ranking. Devang Khakhar, Director of IIT-B, said, “The faculty and students are striving to excel in education and research. The increase in rank is a reflection of continuous improvement in all spheres of our activity.”
