Georgia's Prime Minister resigns after anti-government protests

TBLISI: Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashv­ili on Wednesday announced his resignatio­n after a series of anti-government protests highlighte­d a dramatic drop in his cabinet's popularity. During his televised statement, Kvirikashv­ili also cited "a number of fundamenta­l disagreeme­nts with the chairman of the (ruling Georgian Dream) party", billionair­e tycoon and former premier Bidzina Ivanishvil­i, as a reason for his decision which will prompt the resignatio­n of the entire cabinet.
