Ex-corporator’s son stabbed in drunken brawl outside Santacruz pub
MUMBAI: In a drunken brawl between two groups outside a nightclub near the domestic airport at Santacruz (E) on Saturday night, three persons, including the son of former corporator, Tariq Khan, were assaulted and stabbed. The altercation occurred on Saturday night, while the police have so far arrested one person, the other two escaped from the spot. Tariq Khan, 24, the son of ex-corporator Rizwan Khan from Nagpada, was stabbed in the altercation. The Airport police registered a FIR on Saturday. The accused, Raees Machiwala, 24, Mustafa Ali, 24, and Moin Pathan, 23, got into an altercation with Tariq, 24 and his two friends Owais Siddiqui, 26, and Jigar Gamit, 27, inside the nightclub around 11.45 pm on Saturday. The verbal tussle soon turned physical, with Machiwala, Ali and Pathan stabbing Tariq. When Tariq's friends intervened, they assaulted Owais and Jigar with a knife. Others present at the spot alerted the police. Machiwala was immediately arrested, while Ali and Pathan fled. Alka Mandave, SPI, Airport police said, “Raees Machiwala was immediately arrested. We have registered a FIR against the three accused. The accused are members of local gang called ‘Yo-Yo gang’. The victims and the accused were in an inebriated state at the time of the incident. The exact reason for the altercation is not yet known." The three accused have been booked for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means (Section 326), voluntarily causing hurt (Section 323) and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (Section 504) and criminal intimidation (Section 506) of the Indian Penal Code.
