NITISH DILUTES PROHIBITION LAW

-

BIHAR: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to soften the prohibition law in his state, which suggests that the ban on liquor has failed. So, stringent provisions like sealing of a campus where liquor bottle have been found have been scrapped. Likewise, a house or vehicle won't be seized if liquor or a drunk person is found on the premises. Kumar is also doing away with mandatory jail times for first-time offenders. There have been complaints that the police and excise department invoke the law to frame innocents. In fact, “daaru aur baloo Nitish ko le doobega (liquor and sand will sink Nitish)” has become a common saying. Nitish had earlier done a U-turn on his sand mining policy and has now diluted the prohibition law.
