- SURESH GOLANI

Less than a fortnight after they executed a theft at their workplace in Kashimira, a police team apprehended two employees of a pet boarding service provider from a remote village in Uttar Pradesh for their involvement into the crime.

According to the police, a case of theft was reported by Sandip Chakravorty at his pet boarding establish mentcum-residence in Kashigaon on 25, June. While gold ornaments worth more than Rs.1.6 lakh had gone missing, the complainant suspected the involvement of his employees who had mysteriously disappeared immediately after the theft. After verifying the authenticity of the accusations, a police team under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Vaibhav Shingare swung into action and activated their informer network in and around the region.

Based on a tip-off that the duo identified as Vivek Prajapati (19) and Dayashankar Prajapati (19) had fled to their native place, a police team with the help of their Uttar Pradesh counterparts apprehended them from Chaani Khurd a remote village in Hamirpur district on Friday.

“While both have confessed to their crime, our team has recovered a part of the stolen booty worth more than Rs 48,000 from their possession,” said Shingare.

A case under the section 381 of the IPC has been registered against the duo who were taken into custody after obtaining a transit remand from the First Class Magistrate’s court in Hamirpur. Further investigations were on.
