Careless towards public

Marooned Mumbai! Who cares? Neither the politicians of various hues, elite society nor the agency -- BMC -- owned and managed by the Shiv Sena and its minions who lecture on why Mumbai gets flooded? Even a sensible child born in Mumbai knows the cause and effect of flooding. Surprisingly, the electrical sub-station in Vasai under water (FPJ, July 11), and one can imagine how serious it is and how it will damage the installation. Crowded local trains may be stalled over the Vasai creek. Depressed passengers can commit suicide and none can save them! Here in comes the High Court with suggestion of "elevating" the railway tracks to avoid floods. The best way to inspire fresh thoughts is to suggest mammoth projects which involves colossal costs to the tax payers akin to the tallest Shivaji Statue which evolved with political one-up-manship! When this can be feasible then the government with financial support from Shiv Sena controlled richest Municipal Corporation of Mumbai to undertake elevated train tracks starting from Kalyan. Technically, it is a feasible project with pile foundations taking the load of steel structures with

horizontal steel girders (beams) for a two way rail tracks added with bilateral support from the ministry of transportation for a two side roads running parallel which can bypass the hill sides. No doubt, hasty and adventurous schemes are at first view flattering, in execution difficult and in the issue disastrous. However, probability of digging tunnel drains is feasible with the boring machines in use for taking the load and also extend the discharge drain pipes into the sea!
