Mumbaikars left to suffer endlessly: Cong

OPPN PARTY FILLS POTHOLES IN BANDRA, HITS OUT AT BMC

- STAFF REPORTER

Mumbai Congress on Saturday continued its campaign “Aao Potholes Ginney” (Come, let’s count potholes) even as the 48-hour deadline given by the BMC to fill up the city's potholes ended.

Mumbai Congress unit party workers on Saturday counted and filled up potholes near Rizvi College in Bandra to expose the fact that though the civic body’s deadline to fill the potholes had ended the streets were still pothole-ridden.

Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam said “The BMC gave themselves a 48-hour deadline, which has ended on Saturday, and even in those hours the BMC has failed to repair most of the roads and their apathy and incompetency is taking the lives of Mumbaikars.”

“To fill all the potholes in Mumbai, Mahanagar Palika needs 2500 tonnes of cold mix, but the BMC is only ready with 40 tonnes, which in layman terms would mean that the potholes are here to stay. The BMC still have the time to repair the roads and to make Mumbai potholes free and they should do it before the deadly potholes take the life of another innocent citizen, and if they can’t then Shiv Sena and BJP should definitely quit from the BMC” added Nirupam.

Mumbai Congress launched their campaign ‘Aao Potholes Ginney’ on Thursday after Maharashtra CM stated that the number of potholes in Mumbai has halved in four years. To give a wakeup call to the Shiv Sena and BJP led BMC Mumbai Congress party workers initiated the campaign under which they counted the potholes in and Pratiksha Nagar and Mulund area and filled them with cold mix and kept few lotus flowers (symbol of the BJP party) on them also.
