GCH ‘Strikers’cruise to fluent victories

GCH ‘Strikers’ hit top form and were on a roll as they cruised to convincing 3-0 wins, in the home and away ties of their Section-L league match against MG ‘B’, during the second week of the Otters-BSAM Snooker League 2018, which is also supported by Z3 Zodiac Clothing and organized by the Billiards and Snooker Associatio­n of Maharashtr­a.

The GCH (Garware Club House) ‘Strikers’ picked the perfect set of players, who put up a confident showing and quite comfortabl­y won their respective frames to quickly wrap up the matches.

Playing away first, GCH made a positive winning start when Sahil Kedia (+50 handicap) got the better of home cuiest Anit Thakkar (+50) 10194 in the 15-Red singles first frame.

Later, GCH’s doubles combo of Hitesh Kotwani and Darshak Jhaveri (+24) had thing totally under control and easily defeated the Matunga Gymkhana’s doubles pair of Sundeep Doshi and Naresh Sadarangan­i (+32) 98-32 in the 9-Red doubles tie.

Matunga Gym’s seasoned player Arun Agrawal (+25) was unable to arrest the slide as he could not stop GCH’s Varun Bagri (+45) from charging to 101-43 victory in the third frame and seal the win.

In the return home match, GCH tweaked their team a bit, but they still managed to maintain the winning momentum. They were provided with the perfect start by Vivek Shah (+50), who prevailed over Amit Thakkar 114-92 in the opening frame.

In the second frame, Hitesh Kotwani along with Darshak Jhaveri (+24) easily defeated Matunga Gym’s pairing of Nitin Kothari and Naresh Sadarangan­i (+30) 81-37 before Devansh Jariwal (+45) completed the clean sweep with a tight 92-85 win over Dhaval Kenia (+50) in the third frame.

In other matches, last year’s runner-up ECC ‘Elfies Hornets’ won both their ties defeating NIA ‘Cut Miss Hook’ by identical 3-2 margins in Section-I.

In Section-M, PCL ‘Beach Boys’ also had a good successful week as they prevailed over MIG ‘Saints’ - 3-2, 3-0.
