Convoy of ex-Pak PM’s son attacked
The convoy of former Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s son Syed Ali Musa Gillani was allegedly attacked by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party workers in Mehmoodabad area in Multan late on Friday.
Reportedly, the incident took place when Gillani’s convoy was passing through the residence of Union Council Chairman Ejaz Dogar, who is a PTI politician, Geo TV reported.
Dogar and his party workers came out from the house and allegedly fired indiscriminately on the convoy. However, no one was injured in the incident.
At least, 20 people have been booked for their alleged involvement in the case, including Dogar. Gillani is slated to contest from NA-157 seat in Multan in the upcoming general election.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto condemned the incident and demanded an investigation against those involved in the attack. “Bullets, hurdles, and restrictions cannot stop PPP from continuing on its path,” Bilawal was quoted by Geo TV as saying.
Pakistan has been suffering a spate of terror attacks in the run-up to the general elections slated to be held on July 25. On July 16, Awami National Party leader Daud Khan Achakzai was injured when unknown assailants opened fire indiscriminately on a guest house where party candidate Zmrak Khan Achakzai was staying.
