MUMBAI: Pydhonie police raided four shops at Masjid Bundar and Nagdevi Street and seized counterfeit roller bearings and caster bearings belonging to INA and FAG brands after receiving a complaint from Business and Security Risk Consulting Enterprise, TACT India. Mohammed Faisal, a TACT India representative, had registered a First Information Report (FIR) with Pydhonie Police on July 20 against the accused, Rajesh Jamnadas Mehta, 42, Mayur Hemant Mehta, 26, Sunil Shivaji Patil, 27, and Alizar Yusuf, 27. During investigation, it was found that large quantities of duplicate INA and FAG bearings were being sold in Mumbai. The police has raided all four wholesalers and seized more than 15,000 counterfeit INA and FAG bearings worth Rs 1.25 crore. According to an official statement issued by TACT, "Mostly, all bearing brands are rampantly counterfeited but INA and FAG has taken up a proactive stance towards protecting brand and consumer rights. To protect buyers and end-clients procuring LuK, INA and FAG products from distributors, parent company Schaeffler has assessed and certified sales partners worldwide. This ensures that only original products are traded through these sales channels. Schaeffler is also engaged globally in the fight against product piracy. Targeted and effective measures are centrally organized by the brand protection team and implemented with local support.”
