Woman slips under moving train while alighting, alert cop saves her

-

MUMBAI: A woman came close to death as she was pulled under the train that she was alighting at Kanjurmarg, but with a lot of luck and help from alert onlookers, she survived. She fell as her sari got entangled in the gap between the platform and train.

She was standing at the edge of the compartment when the incident took place.

Other commuters on the platform began screaming and an alert Railway Police Force (RPF) constable immediately rushed to her help and averted a potential accident. A CCTV at the railway station has captured the shocking incident. “On Platform Number 2 in Kanjurmarg on the Central line, the unidentified woman is seen being pulled under the train as it is about to leave the platform. From the visuals, it appears that her saree got entangled in the gap between the platform and the train, resulting in the accident,” said railway officials on the basis of CCTV footage.

“The cop is seen grabbing her hand as the train leaves the platform. One onlooker is seen grabbing her hand and pulling her even as he is chasing the train. He then loses his balance and falls down, and the woman is seen being dragged a few more metres before she miraculously comes onto the platform,” said a railway official. He added the woman sustained grievous injuries and was immediately treated. “The condition of the woman is stable and she is under observation at the nearest hospital,” the official said.
