AICC secys on 6-day state visit

-

Congress secretaries in charge of Maharashtra are on a six-day visit to the state to interact with district party chiefs and office-bearers to take stock of the political situation. In June, the Congress had appointed Sampath Kumar from Telangana, Sonal Patel from Gujarat and Ashish Dua from Haryana as All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries for Maharashtra.

The trio on Tuesday met district unit chiefs and officebearers from Ratnagiri, Raigad and Sindhudurg at Tilak Bhavan, the state unit headquarters in central Mumbai. On Wednesday, they had meetings with Mira Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar, Thane city, Bhiwandi and Ulhasnagar district committees.

Meeting with the party leaders in Mumbai is also scheduled at the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) office in south Mumbai.

Rajan Bhosale, MPCC general secretary in charge of Konkan said the AICC secretaries discussed the prevailing political situation in Konkan.

“They sought suggestions on strengthening the party base in the region. The secretaries were told that Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg districts, which form a Lok Sabha seat was given to Narayan Rane's son. "(Narayan) Rane was the final word for the party in these two districts. Now that he has defected, he has taken away whatever little the party had in these areas,” Bhosale said.
