Indoctrina­ting youth to join ISIS: NIA frames charges against two

MUMBAI: The special court of the National Investigat­ion Agency (NIA), Mumbai, has framed charges and charge-sheeted accused Rizwan Ahmed alias Khalid and Mohsin Ibrahim Sayyed in a case related to the indoctrina­tion of Ayaz Mohamad Sultan, a youth from Malwani, Malad, to join the terrorist outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Sayyed has been arrested for criminal conspiracy (Section120(B)) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act as per the directions issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. During investigat­ion, it was found that the accused Ayaz Mohammed entered into a criminal conspiracy with Mohsin Ibrahim Sayyed and his handler Yusuf Al Hindi alias Yusuf alias Shafi Armar Shaikh during the year 2015 in propagatin­g the Jihadi activities of ISIS with the common objective and intention to join ISIS, a banned internatio­nal terrorist organizati­on and participat­e in its terrorist acts. In pursuance of the above conspiracy, Ayaz Mohammed got a passport in September, 2015 and got a visa in October, 2015. He left for Kabul from Indira Gandhi Internatio­nal Airport, New Delhi and joined ISIS in Afghanista­n. The investigat­ion had also revealed that the accused Rizwan Ahmed alias Khalid, a resident of Uttar Pradesh and Mohsin Ibrahim Sayyed were involved in unlawful activities of instigatin­g youths of Malwani area, Malad to join Islamic State of Iraq, & Syria (ISIS). It has also been revealed that they supported the ISIS in its terrorist act and instigated, advocated, advised, incited youth of the Malwani area to leave India and join ISIS.
