Sparsh: A solo exhibition of paintings
WHAT: ‘Sparsh’, a solo exhibition of paintings by a contempo-rary artist Mukta Gupta from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, which will reveal her artistic perceptions about the ‘sparsh’ or ‘touch’ mostly in divine forms leading to happiness and joy as well as eternal blessings in the relevant arenas. This show was inaugurated by Rajesh Vikrant (editor and writer) at on July 31 in the presence of Ashok Bindal (writer) as guest of honour and other art lovers/patrons. Mukta Gupta had her art education at Chandigarh and then from B.S.P affiliated by Rabindra Bharti University, Kolkata. She then participated in many solo and group art shows at National and International levels and received appreciations for her presentations from art lovers, collectors and patrons. The present series illustrates her innovative perceptions about the sparsh or divine touch. Using the iconic symbols of Krishna and Gopis and deep affection between them in several environments, she has adorned her work with the creative expressions of affection for swakiya or love for own partner or associates. In this context, Mukta’s work differs from the traditional narrative. It illustrates her personal interpretation of the mythological narrative of the theme in apt arenas.
