History-sheeter arrested for 2010 murder

The Mumbai crime branch unit-5 has arrested a 30-yearold history-sheeter on Saturday morning for the murder of a jeweller at Ghatkopar in 2010.

The accused, Naushad Shoaib Khan, 30, was arrested by police on Saturday morning. Jeweller Bharat Rohanlal Singh was murdered on April 13, 2010. Singh was shot dead by Khan while he was returning home after shutting the jewellery shop for the day on April 13, 2010.

Khan has been arrested for murder (Section 302), common intention (Section 34) of the Indian Penal Code and possession of fire-arms (Sections 3, 25 and 27) of the Indian Penal Code. His car was intercepted at Kurla from where he was arrested.

After committing the murder

in 2010, Khan fled to Saudi Arabia after obtaining a passport from Lucknow and worked there as a driver for six months. In 2011, he returned to Ahmedabad, where he worked as a driver in Nadiad. In 2014, he again fled to Saudi Arabia and returned to his village at Dharara in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, in 2015. He was booked by Jihanpur Police at Azamgarh for the murder of his brother-in-law over a family property dispute. In 2017, he came to Mumbai. He was wanted by Ghatkopar Police for an attempt to murder a man at Ashok Nagar, Ghatkopar.

According to Ashok Khot, senior police inspector, Mumbai crime branch unit5, “We have arrested Khan on Saturday morning from Kurla. He has been handed to over to the Ghatkopar police for further investigation.”
