3 Bangladesh­is held in house-break cases

MUMBAI: Santacruz police made three fresh arrests in the house break cases wherein four alleged Bangladesh­i nationals were already arrested for committing the said crime in western suburbs. The gang broke in the empty houses of suburb apartments, including the rented apartments of models and struggling actors. The freshly arrested accused were responsibl­e of converting the stolen booty of gold in cash. On July 27, Santacruz police had arrested four alleged Bangladesh­i nationals Mohammad Rafiq Majid Shaikh (26), Shakeel Rabiul Shaikh (26), Buddhadev Das (30) and Himanshu Pore (28) for house breaking in three Vile Parle residences in the month of June and decamping with valuables and cash worth Rs 3.4 crore. During the investigat­ion, the accused revealed about their accomplice­s who were in-charge of converting the stolen gold ornaments into cash by selling the stolen booty. The police acted on this tip-off and arrested three more accused from Vasai and Virar. The chase for the three accused took a Bollywood turn after they allegedly tried to escape by breaking open the tin sheet roof and the Santacruz police officials were chasing the three accused by running on rooftops of a Vasai-based chawl. Shreeram Koregaonka­r, SPI of Santacruz police station said, "A team pinned down the accused by chasing them on the roofs and were caught by another team, which was waiting for the accused on the other end of the chawl." All accused are history sheeters had several cases of house breaking. -
