Train delay on Wed caused by unit failure between Bhandup and Kanjurmarg: CR
Commuters said distances usually covered in 30 minutes or less took an hour in some cases and for the last two weeks services have been delayed
Central Railway (CR) services were delayed by 30-40 minutes during Wednesday morning peak hours because of unit failure on a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT)-bound slow train, inconveniencing thousands of commuters, mostly officer-goers and students.
“There was a minor technical glitch between Bhandup and Kanjurmarg on the Up fast line between 8.22 and 8.37 am. Few trains were delayed on the Up fast line due to this.
Issue resolved in shortest possible time.Other lines/services were running normally. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” said Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer, CR.
Commuters said distances usually covered in 30 minutes or less took an hour in some cases and for the last two weeks services have been delayed. “We can understand if it’s raining or there is a technical problem causing the delay but it has become a routine. We don’t understand what maintenance work the railways carries out every Sunday, when it announces a mega block. The result seems to be delayed trains in the work week,” said commuter Amit Narhari.
Another commuter said the railways had also cancelled few local trains without announcement, which caused trains to run late by 30 minutes. “I was standing at Dadar station for a 12.39 CSMT-bound local. It was running late and then abruptly cancelled without any announcement. The local scheduled for 12.47 pm local arrived at 1.05 pm, by which time the platform was crowded, as were the coaches,” said another commuter, Rajesh Khillari.
“There is definitely some delay but trains have not stopped on CR. Services are operational and some trains are usually delayed. However, during peak hours, services are not curtailed as far as possible,” said CR official.
