Rickshaw driver held for flashing woman in Borivli

- STAFF REPORTER /

Borivli Police arrested autorickshaw driver Raj Bahadur Pal, 37, on Friday night for flashing a media executive on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on August 22 as the woman was returning home from Malad to her residence in Borivli at night. While she was talking on the phone, Pal turned the vehicle into a deserted lane at Borivli. The victim noticed he had unzipped his pants and flashed her. Shocked, she jumped off the autorickshaw. She had noted the registration number of the vehicle but had misplaced two alphabets in the registration number.

The registration number of the vehicle was MH-02-UA3935, but the woman had the number down as MH-02-AU3935. Two teams had been working to trace the accused and find the correct vehicle number at the Regional Transport Office, since CCTV footage of the spot from where the woman had escaped was not clear. While the CCTV captured her running, the rickshaw's image was obscured as it was behind a bus parked right in front of the CCTV.

According to Lakshman Dumbre, senior police inspector, Borivli Police,“Raj Bahadur Pal has been arrested on Friday night from a chawl at Borivli. The person who owned the rickshaw is from Uttar Pradesh. His father owned the rickshaw but after he passed away, Pal had taken the rickshaw on rent. We contacted the rickshaw driver in Uttar Pradesh who gave us the details about Pal.”
