'Will abduct girl of your choice, so you can marry her'

Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Ram Kadam shocked those present at a Ghatkopar dahi handi event on Monday with his arrogance. He assured the boys, if they liked a girl, even if she was not inclined to reciprocate, he would forcibly get the girls to marry them.

"If you like a girl and if she is opposed to marrying you, come and tell me. What will I do? Abduct the girl and get you married," said Kadam to a shocked audience. Further, warming up to the theme, Kadam told the youth present, "You can come to me for any work. The scenario is usually this: Saheb, saheb, I have proposed to the girl, but she has turned me down, please help. Remember, you are assured of 100 per cent help."

The video clip has gone viral since Monday night, causing opposition leaders to question Kadam's blatant misuse of his power and authority.

Nationalist Congress Party spokesperson Nawab Malik said the clip has exposed Kadam's evil side. "Through this clip, Kadam has exposed the Ravan within. He is openly speaking of abducting girls and assuring boys of getting them married to the girl of their choice, even if it is against the girl's wishes," said Malik.

Malik further said, "We condemn this blatant misuse of authority. From today, this legislator should be called Ravan Kadam, as his demeanour is not in keeping with the name given to him by his parents."
