Ganesh darshan for foreign tourists
The festival season in Maharashtra has begun and the adminstration now gears up for Mumbai's grandest festival, Ganesh utsav.
Ganesh festival is now listed on the 'must to-do-list' of foreigners who are often seen dancing in the processions. This year, Maharshtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) along with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up a separate pavilion for foreign tourists at Girgaon Chowpatty so that they can safely get to see the Ganpati immersion.
Authorities said, the pavilion will be a temporary structure just for Ganesh festival which will accommodate at least 300 foreign tourists at one time. There will be other amenities available, which include clean drinking water, mobile toilets, bus transport facility along with refreshments.
Vijay Kumar Gautam, Principal Secretary Tourism, Governmentof Maharashtra said, “The objective is to position this festival on the global map, so we are inviting international

tourists to participate through MCGM registration facilities for the Ganesh festival. We have made a separate pandal for the International tourists at Girgaon (Girgaum) Chowpatty. The tourists can catch a glimpse of the Ganpati idols from across the city. I am certain that the festival will attract a large number of International visitors in the state of Maharashtra.”
