The NM Joshi Marg police have sought further police custody of the accused Sarfaraz Shaikh (20) for matching the DNA of the bloodstains found on the trousers of the accused Sarfaraz Shaikh with that of the slain Vice President of HDFC bank Siddharth Sanghavi.

The investigators have stated that the trousers were washed by Sarfaraz after the murder. The police are also investigating the CCTV footage of the route Sarfaraz had taken to dispose of Siddharth's body at Kalyan and later abandon the car at Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai.

Aditya Ahire, the investigating officer attached to the NM Joshi Marg police said, "We are verifying the CCTV footage of the route which Sarfaraz took to reach Haji Malang, Kalyan to dispose of the body and the route taken to Koparkhairane to abandon the car.We have found the trouser of Sarfaraz with blood stains on it. The trouser was found from his residence at Koparkhairane although he had washed it after the murder. The blood samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Kalina to match the DNA with that of Siddharth.”

“We are also trying to trace Siddharth’s wallet. We have not recovered any other clothes of Sarfaraz as yet,”added Ahire.

Sarfaraz was produced before Magistrate VB Bohra at the Bhoiwada Magistrate court and remanded to police custody until September 21.

The police told the court that they have not yet recovered the wallet of Siddharth Sanghvi. Sarfaraz has made the claims that he disposed of Siddharth's wallet a kilometre away from where his body was found at Haji Malang.

Sarfaraz had travelled to Vashi via Sion and Dadar to dispose off the body.

According to Sadanand Rane, another investigating officer in the case, “I do not know regarding the type of knife which was used to murder Siddharth Sanghavi. The medical test of Sarfaraz was carried out after his arrest. I cannot share any details on it."
