MUMBAI: Bandra police have arrested a 28-year-old man, identified as Anand Singh for allegedly killing a woman over monetary dispute. The dead body of the woman identified as Archana was found dumped on the plot of a construction site. The arrested accused has been booked under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to murder. According to police sources, early on Sunday morning the workers of a construction site situated opposite Lovely Stores in Bandra saw the body of a woman with a slit throat. The workers immediately alerted their contractor, who later informed the local police. A team reached the spot and identified the woman as Archana with the help of the identity proof found in her purse. The deceased's phone was also found in the purse intact. With the help of mobile experts, the police unlocked her phone and looked into the call history, which showed repeated calls made to a man. When the police called the man in question, he confessed of killing Archana in a fit of rage. Singh (28) said Archana and him and exchanged a sum of rupees on the loan basis, but on repeated reminders, Archana refused to pay him back. When things went out of hand, he lost his temper and murdered her by slitting her throat. The police are still investigating the matter and are yet to ascertain the amount of money for which the murder was committed. Girish Anavkar, senior police inspector of Bandra police station said, "The investigation is underway. Singh was produced in court on Monday and was remanded to police custody till September 29."
