After Narendra, it will be Devendra: Minister
While PM Narendra Modi and his BJP are gung-ho about retaining power after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and Modi is gearing up for a second term as PM, a BJP ally begs to differ.
The Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (RSP) chief and Dhangar leader Mahadev Jankar has predicted Devendra Fadnavis will become the Prime Minister of India.
Jankar is the Cabinet Minister for Dairy Development in the Fadnavis government in Maharashtra. Despite the Dhangar community feeling cheated by the BJP government, Jankar is a hardcore supporter of Fadnavis. He was elected to the Upper House as a member of the legislative council (MLC) as a BJP candidate for the first time on January 23. 2015. He was inducted into the Fadnavis cabinet on February 19, 2017.During a public meeting called by the Brahman Seva Sangh on Thursday at Pune, Jankar praised the CM and predicted, “Fadnavis is doing a good job. In the future, he will become Prime Minister. ”“Ya deshat jyala brahmnacha haat lagato, toh ‘history maker’ hoto (Any person touched by a Brahmin becomes a 'history maker'). Gopalkrishna Gokhale was Mahatma Gandhi’s guru. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s teacher was a Brahmin. Bhide, who offered his ‘wada’ (big house) for the school of Mahatma Phule, was also Brahmin,” said the minister. Jankar added, “A Teli (community traditionally occupied in pressing oil) child,
who sold tea, became Prime Minister because of the Brahmin community. Devendra Fadnavis is the first Brahmin CM working for uplift of the oppressed society. I became a minister because of a Brahmin CM. He is working for all sects of the society. In future he will become Prime Minister,” said Jankar. The minister further said that Brahmin is not religion or caste, but a system. Any person who actively works in his field becomes a Brahmin, he said.Jankar has remained single because he is married to the cause of obtaining reservation for his community. Fadnavis had made a poll promise to include Dhangars among backward classes so that they could avail of reservation in government jobs and education. The community had supported BJP, enabling it to come to power at the Centre and in the state. As a reward, Jankar was given a cabinet berth in the Fadnavis government. However, the community is yet to be given reservation.
