Killer son hallucinated about father’s death

LOKHANDWALA MURDER CASE

- PRIYANKA NAVALKAR

In a twist in the Lokhandwala murder case, in which 23-year-old model Lakshya Singh confessed to the murder of his fashion designer mother Sunita, 45, on October 4, it has emerged that Lakshya’s father Kuldeep is alive and well. This shows the murder accused might be delusional, said police sources because Lakshya had told them his father suddenly died three years ago and his mother performed black magic rituals to bring back his soul by chanting ‘Om’ every night.

Police sources said on Sunday evening, Kuldeep Singh, Lakshya’s father approached Oshiwara Police after he read reports of his ex-wife Sunita’s murder. Kuldeep, a businessman was in Mumbai all this while and had divorced Sunita a few years ago due to irreconcilable differences and had not been in touch with the family for years together.

He added Sunita or Lakshya were never associated with black magic and suspects Lakshya’s girlfriend Aaeshpriya Banerjee, 22, was involved in performing black magic rituals, said police.

Lakshya, who was a drug addict, had told police his mother became mentally unstable after his father’s sudden demise and often hallucinated about his presence. When Lakshya was detained for questioning after his mother’s murder on October 4, he claimed his father’s soul had murdered his mother after she ‘summoned’ him.

However, after Kuldeep approached police to clean up the mess created by his son, police said it is confirmed Lakshya was the one who was hallucinating. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Region) said, “The murder accused was addicted to drugs and cooked up stories about his father’s soul haunting his mother. Lakshya was hallucinating and is not in a state to even a record a statement he can vouch for.”
