Arrest RSS chief Bhagwat, demands Prakash Ambedkar

Why does the organisation have weapons and why is it raising an army, questions the BBM chief

-

Starting a protest against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for illegally possessing weapons, the Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) leader Prakash Ambedkar has demanded the arrest of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Ambedkar has also demanded a case be filed against the organisation.

“We have an Arms Act in the country that prevents anyone from possessing weapons. However, RSS people are found to possess weapons. Photographs of Bhagwat and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which weapons like AK-47, multi-firing guns, shoulder-to-fire rockets are also featured, have been published. I have asked the government to explain why no action is being taken against him,” Ambedkar said.

“The nation has armed forces to protect citizens. For what is the RSS raising a parallel army, then? In the coming days protests will be held everywhere and all manner of transport will be blocked in Maharashtra if the government doesn’t take action in this case,” threatened Ambedkar.

“We have demanded the government should take action against Bhagwat under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and confiscate weapons possessed by them,” Ambedkar said, and added that his party would organize protests throughout the country to push for this.

“They say weapons are worshipped on the auspicious day of Dussera. However, if I want to worship a tank or a combat aircraft on such occasion, would the government permit me to do so?” Ambedkar asked. "If action can be taken against a common man for possessing even crude, country-made weapons, similar action needs to be taken against Bhagwat,” he insisted.

According to the Dalit leader, anyone possessing weapons like AK-47s are looked upon as terrorists in India and police initiate action against a person who possesses even a small pistol. Then police should also act against Bhagwat, who has been pictured with AK47s in the past, demanded Ambedkar. He also stated, if the government failed to initiate action against Bhagwat, he would move court.
