Sexual harassment survivor joins #MeToo movement

Months after being subjected to sexual harassment in a financial institution, the victim has joined the #MeToo movement and tweeted on Thursday afternoon. The victim said after joining the trending online movement she has garnered vast support and this is helping other women like her to come out of the shell and speak up.

Ever since Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta sparked the #MeToo campaign, alleging a veteran Bollywood actor sexually harassed her on the sets of 'Horn Ok Pleassss,' in 2008, it has given more women courage to come forward and speak of their harrowing experiences. Another victim from a leading corporate firm said, she was refused the right to lodge a complaint at the local police station when she approached them with allegations. "It was only after I knocked the doors of court of law, did the police register my complaint."

The victim further stated, "The tweet has given me a sense of encouragement that justice will be served. I hope the police now follow suit like they did in Dutta's case and take cognisance against the three accused who sexually harassed me for months together."

The survivor, a former senior credit analyst with a leading a financial institution, had alleged she was molested and harassed by three senior employees of the company. Despite various attempts to report it, the firm took no action. When she approached her bosses, her services were terminated. Recently the court had sent summons to the three accused and ordered a probe.

The woman worked at the Goregaon office of this firm and was asked to quit on June 8. She was not given any specific reason for being sacked. The lady claimed since she had levelled allegations of sexual abuse against her seniors, her services were terminated.
