Bhagwat's Ayodhya temple remarks censored?

The government swung into action to censor and blank out from the TV channels RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's directive-type call for a legislation for construction of a grand Ram Temple at Ayodhya in his traditional Vijayadashami speech in Nagpur on Thursday.

Most of the TV channels had shown his address live and continued to relay his controversial remarks on the Ram Temple and the Supreme Court ruling on women's entry in the Sabarimala temple, but quietly dropped what he said on the Ayodhya and instead kept highlighting his call for compulsory voting by all citizens.

Even the RSS seems to have censored Bhagwat's speech as the text put on its website <rss.org > did carry his remarks on the temple in Ayodhya but softened his directive for a legislation with the remarks: "The government should clear the path for construction of the grand temple through appropriate and requisite law."

Some TV channels continued to carry remarks of the BJP and Opposition leaders on Bhagwat's call for construction of the Ram Temple but they too were later blanked out.

Raking up the pet saffron agenda ahead of next year's Lok Sabha polls that may also influence votes in the upcoming Assembly elections in five states, Bhagwat stressed that the Ram Temple must be built at the earlier and the government should bring a legislation for the purpose and construct the temple on its own.
