MNS now threatens to repeat BJP’s cracker fiasco in MBMC
Taking a strong objection to the dangerously irresponsible act by the BJP workers of bursting crackers inside the main administrative building of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), the local MNS unit has threatened to replicate the act if the civic administration fails to take action against the culprits.
It may be recalled that some overzealous party workers of the BJP who had trooped in to register their presence in the inaugural ceremony of the newly-elected standing committee chairman, had blatantly put to risk the life of employees and visitors by bursting crackers inside the building premises on Monday. Fortunately, no untoward incident was reported.
However, the civic administration had conveniently chosen to remain a mute spectator to the entire illegalities committed by the supporters of the ruling party.
A delegation of MNS activists led by Hemant Sawant met municipal commissioner Balaji Khatgaonkar on Tuesday and demanded police complaints under section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide ) of the IPC to be registered against the culprits, this apart from action against the private security agency whose personnel allowed the crackers into the government building.
“We have been assured by the commissioner of initiating a probe into the matter and take action. However, if he fails to do so, we will be forced to replicate the blunder and the entire consequence of it will rest upon the civic administration,” warned Sawant. Meanwhile, the local Shiv Sena unit has also demanded registration of FIR against those involved in the brazen firecracker episode.
