- NARENDRA GUPTA

The Bhiwandi Bhoiwada police constituted two teams and despatched to Ajmer and Manmad to arrest the two absconding kidnappers of the killed 14-year-old schoolboy bludgeoned to death on October 28. The police tracked them after accessing their mobile locations.

According to police, the two absconding accused have been identified as Abdullah and Husain. They kidnapped and murdered Bilal Shakil Qureshi. Abdullah worked for Bilal’s father, Shakil, in his mutton shop for a few months ago. Abdullah wanted to become rich overnight after seeing Shakil with wads of notes. Shakil was renovating his mutton shop, that is why he was carrying a lot of cash.

A senior police officer said, “Abdullah is a minor. He plotted kidnap and murder of Bilal with the help of his two accomplices Hussain and Wahid Ali Ansari. Ansari was arrested on Friday.”

A neighbour of the victim blamed police for delayed action. “Police should have taken strict action when the kidnapper called on Shakil’s cellphone when he was at the police station. He, in fact, had handed over his cellphone to the police to speak with the kidnapper who then alerted them Shakil had approached the police,” said the neighbour on request of anonymity.

He added, “Police should have immediately traced the location and nabbed the accused but they failed. This is the only reason Abdullah killed the boy, because he came to know that his identity was revealed.”

Police said, all the three accused resided at Vitthal Nagar in Bhiwandi. The kidnappers strangled Bilal disfigured his face with a stone to avoid his identification and dumped the body near Ovali village on MumbaiNashik Highway.

Shakil Qureshi, 40, and his wife Suhana, 35, lived with their adopted son, Bilal. The couple did not have any child of their own and his elder brother gave him their son Bilal to fulfil Shakil and Suhana’s dream of becoming parents. Shakil runs a meatshop.

“Shakil’s family is a small and happy family. We all have good relations with one another in the neighbourhood. We are shocked such an incident has come to pass. We cannot believe it even now,” said Sultan. Mohmmad Ahmad Qureshi, Bilal’s uncle said, “I request police to arrest the absconding kidnappers at the earliest. They should get rigorous imprisonment for the heinous crime.”
