Now, RSS has a problem with cult of Chacha Nehru

-

Nation’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, languished for more than a decade in jail; so, when Indira was born, so he could never enjoy her childhood. As Indira grew up, he again became a father, but this time Nehru’s newly born son died immediately after birth. He could never enjoy a harmonious family life and from that deepseated psychological need stems his love for children. But the RSS would have us believe otherwise. It has claimed that Nehru began celebrating his birthday as Children's Day almost a decade before he died in 1964 and it was entirely a PR exercise.

In its mouthpiece, the 'Organiser', the RSS claims that Nehru created a cult of ‘Chacha Nehru’ as he wanted to turn the entire generation into his blind admirers.

In then editorial published, the RSS further claims that Nehru emulated the German dictator Adolf Hitler by doing so. It has even cited an article published in 1955, written by veteran journalist R. K. Malani, claiming that it is a widely held misconception that November 14 is celebrated as Children's Day after the death of Nehru. It is further claimed that documents suggest Nehru's birthday was celebrated as Children's day in the year 1955 i.e. nine years before his death.

This was done allegedly to please the leaders of erstwhile Soviet Union. “It had nothing to do with children or Chachaji's eternal love and affections for India's young buds. It was merely a public relations exercise, organized to please his Soviet Union

masters -- Comrades Bulganin and Khrushchev -- who had embarked on an India visit during that time.”

The editorial adds that the move was aimed at creating a base of youth followers, similar to the Nazi Party’s youth wing 'Hitler-Jugend;’ in other words, this was Nehru's first move to allegedly establish a dictatorship.

The Organiser also carries with the article a black and white photograph of Nehru smoking, which seeks to dwell on the similarities between him and the Nazi leader.

The editorial argues that the appropriate day for Children’s Day celebration would be Krishna Janmashtami — the birthday of the great child of all times, Sri Bala Krishna”.
