Right vibe

I stay in Bandra, Mumbai. The truth is I’ve lived in Bandra for most of my life but in different localities. I shifted into my current house, a 3BHK, in December 2015. I chose this house because I was looking for a house in which I could imagine spending the rest of my life. It took me more than three years of househunting to finally zero down on the house I am currently living in. It’s exactly how I wanted my house to be. It’s open from all sides with big windows and a balcony that runs along all four sides. For me, it was most important that it didn’t have another building close by so people couldn’t peep into my home.

Emotional connect

Privacy and open space were my main concern. However, I love this house because it is the first house purchased from my earnings and therefore it has a lot of emotional value for me.

Simplicity personified

The openness and simplicity of my house reflects my personality. My mom has designed everything so far but we are still in the process of doing the décor. We plan to take out time for the same, soon. Nobody’s taste has influenced the look and feel of my house, besides my own, of course.

Cat zone

The favourite part of my house is my pets’ room since I have nine cats. My cats are allowed in my rooms and on the furnishings; in fact, they are allowed all over the house. Sometimes I feel as if it’s the house of my cats and I’m staying in it! I love collecting candles with different aromas and shapes but I can only collect them and not use them because I have to be careful about the cats.

Cosy hangout

My friends love the vibe of the house because it makes them feel at home. If I were to use three adjectives to describe my house, I would say it is cosy, comfortable and homely.

Natural touches

My house doesn’t have a terrace; we live in Mumbai which is a concrete jungle but I have placed a few plants in my balcony ... I don’t know if that counts as an expression of my love for nature! I love being in sync with nature though and whenever I have time off from work I take a trip to the mountains.

Total access

I am not very possessive about my room. My loved ones can access my room but with strangers there are limitations. Friends and family are more than welcome in my room but not random people. I entertain people unknown to me in the living room only.

Fave spot

The spot in the house for which I have a soft corner? Hmm … there is a small corner in the balcony just outside my room. It is like kind of a small hideout for me. I guess it influenced the choice of my bedroom.
