Kolsewadi police registers case against 12 persons

The Kolsewadi police have registered a case against 12 people, including TOK (Team Omie Kalani) president and Ulahasnaga­r Municipal Corporatio­n mayor Pancham Kalani, husband Omie Kalani for kidnapping and extortion from a Kalyan based garment businessma­n on Tuesady.

Police said the complainan­t, identified as Anil Kanjani (37), who runs a wholesale garment business in Kalyan. Anil Kanjani alleged stated in the police complaint that the Kalanis kidnapped him and threatened to return Rs 50 lakh of a Ahmedabad-based businessma­n whose money he had to pay.

He had some outstandin­g dues with regard to garments with the Ahemdabad-based businessma­n Nilesh. Suresh Lalwani, who is known to Nilesh, introduced Kanjani to Nilesh for business deals. On Sunday, Lalwani had threatened him to return Nilesh's dues. Lalwani went to Kanjani's house in Kalyan and took him forcefully to Mumbai Airport where Nilesh was also present taking Ahmedabad flight via Mumbai.

Kanjani alleged that the duo threatened and abused him and thereafter took him to Ulhasnagar-based hotel. In the hotel (TOK) members were already present Santosh Pandey, Sunny Telkar, Kamlesh Nikam, Vijay Shinde, Goodu Rai, Vicky Panjabi and some other members who threatened him at the point of the knife and revolver asking him to clear the dues within two days. Later they all were taken to Seema internatio­nal hotel where he was forcefully kept in a room for the entire night and also beaten up.

Kanjani alleged after being held captive, on Monday they had forcefully taken him in a car from the hotel to Omie Kalani bungalow to meet Omie Kalani regarding dues of Nilesh. During that time my uncle Rajkumar Aajwani received a call on his mobile then I told him about all incident after which they did not taken me to Kalani's bungalow and left me near his house giving warning to return money of Nilesh.
