BJP MLA’s car vandalised

After differences with CM Fadnavis and some BJP ministers, Anil Gote decided to contest against the BJP under his own political outfit Lok Sangram

-

A day before the civic polls for Dhule Municipal Corporation, a private car of Anil Gote, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator was vandalised by a mob in the city. Gote was not in the car at the time of the incident, however, he suffered an asthma attack after the incident and was admitted to a private hospital. Meanwhile, the voter turnout was recorded as 60 per cent. The polling was held on Sunday to elect 73 out of 74 posts of corporators in the civic body. The Samajwadi Party candidate had won a seat unopposed. Gote, after differences with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP minister Girish Mahajan, Jaykumar Rawal and state BJP president Raosaheb Danve, had decided to contest under the umbrella of Lok Sangram — his own political outfit against BJP.

Gote blamed BJP workers behind attack on his car. He named union minister of state for defence Subhash Bhamare and alleged Bhamre’s supporters had attacked his vehicle. However, Bhamare had denied allegations and claimed, Gote is aware about a landslide defeat in the civic polls and hence blaming him.

Gote said, “A day before the polls, his party candidates were framed by false cases and arrested by police.”

In Dhule, the contest was between rebel BJP legislator Gote and BJP. Congress and Nationalist Congress Party have forged alliance whereas Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has also fielded candidates in the civic polls.

The counting will be on Monday and it is expected that by 2 pm, the result for all 73 seats will be out.
