Has RBI lost the battle?
There were sane and insane voices to be heard in the wake of RBI governor’s resignation. THE FPJ SHARES THE SENTIMENT, WITHOUT TAKING SIDES.
@BDUTT
Urijit Patel resigns. Ironic: Raghuram Rajan not given a second term because he was too much his own person and too visible. Now the most low key, non visible, near reclusive RBI governor quits. Not at all a good reflection on govt management of accomplished professionals.
@VishalDadlani
VISHAL DADLANI Retweeted Rajdeep Sardesai Goodbye to an RBI Governor whose name will live on in infamy as the slow-counter who abetted #Dumbonetisation, the stupidest and most ineffective election/PR stunt in Indian History. May the heads of those involved, never rest easy.
@ArvindKejriwal
RBI governor Urjit Patel has been eased out since he refused to allow the Modi govt to plunder Rs Three lakh crore of RBI reserves. Now Modi govt will get a more pliable RBI governor who will allow this loot.
@bainjal
Swati Chaturvedi Retweeted Puja Mehra
Viral Acharya will also quit. Thank you @PMOIndia for destroying a 70 long years of RBI autonomy.
@ncbn
The resignation of RBI Governor Sri Urjit Patel is a sad culmination of BJP led union govt's destructive efforts to demolish critical national institutions. First CBI, now RBI. If this destruction continues, no institution will survive and Indian democracy will be in deep danger.
@Nidhi
Very clear that the government is trying to shift the media narrative only to the Mallya extradition story. And while that is important, the bigger story today is the RBI Governor’s resignation. No amount of spin can change that.
@ashutosh83B
First Supreme Court, Then CBI and Now RBI ! What is happening ? At least there are still people with spine !!!
@priyankac19
Meanwhile the RBI&Government’s war has created an all out chaos for the nation. It is a first ever in India’s independent history that the RBI governor Dr. Urijit Patel has stepped down leading to a huge credibility crisis&a question mark on RBIs autonomy.
@BDUTT
Deleting my previous tweet as RBI says Viral Acharya has not quit. Well not yet.
@suhasinih
"Under his leadership, RBI saw financial stability", says the PM. So with his exit, RBI will see ........ ?
@ShankkarAiyar
Did Urjit Patel Quit on Nov 9? Surmise: @RBI Governor met PM on Nov 9. Offered to Quit. Was asked to stay till polls. Validation Awaited. The sequence of events and statements reflects "knowingness" and synchronised messaging.
@mkvenu1
Tomorrow the govt will deploy LIC money(public premium money) to defend the stock market fall on account of RBI Governor resignation. The financial stocks will fall much more than the general market.
@DrSushilKrGupta
RBI Governor #UrjitPatel resignation is a huge shock to us. The worst part is that he had to do so because he didn't allow Modi govt to rob RBI reserves for their selfish purposes.
@DilliDurAst
Urjit Patel resigns. He was meant to be the low key RBI governor who doesn’t seek fame or controversy. Keeps his head down and does his work. Modi government couldn’t work with even such a guy. Who can they work with?
@mkvenu1
Make no mistake a dozen big biz promoters with overdue bank loans of over Rs.3.5 lakh cr wanted to see the back of RBI Governor. New RBI rule to send loan defaulters to bankruptcy courts was resisted. SC was moved by promoters to get temporary stay. Wheels within wheels.
@sgurumurthy
Surprised at the news that RBI governor has resigned. The previous meeting was held in such cordial atmosphere that it comes as a shock. All directors said media had created a wrong perception while inside it was totally different. That makes it even more surprising
@Ahmedshabbir20
Correct headline is : #UrjitPatel forced to resign #RBI
@sashidar
Does patel's resignation mean that the @RBI lost the battle?
@krish1468
1.RBI autonomy gone. 2.Courts independence gone. 3. Media independence gone. 4. EC autonomy gone. These are much bigger issues right now. Country will collapse if all do not come together. Sir , please set aside small personal differences. Country is facing bigger problems.
@prashantagrvns
Then RBI should be called Reserve Bar of India.
