St Xavier’s College to celebrate its 150th birthday

For over 150 years, St Xavier’s College, Fort, has served large number of students from different background­s. It is known to be one of India’s foremost educationa­l institutio­ns as it has given the country innumerabl­e luminaries in the fields of business, media, entertainm­ent, technology, science and education.

To commemorat­e these 150 glorious years, the college will host a gala event on January 3, 2019 at the Cooperage Football Ground, Colaba. This will be a fundraisin­g Alumni Dinner and will bring together alumni across decades, teachers, students and the Jesuit priests.

The alumni includes businessme­n, bureaucrat­s, policy makers, bankers, media honchos and creative wizards, who will be attending this event. The event programme will feature Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan, and multiple musicians - prominent alumni who will perform solo, duets and group items. Also, the luminaries include journalist­s Sharda Ugra, Neeta Kolhatkar, Leela Jacinto and Naresh Fernandes.

The event will feature a musical by students, teachers, Jesuits and alumni. Ashish Bhasin, Chairman and CEOSouth Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network and an alumnus of St Xavier’s College said, “This is a great opportunit­y for all the alumni of this wonderful institutio­n to come together with old friends and kick off the sesquicent­ennial year celebratio­ns.”
