St Xavier’s College to celebrate its 150th birthday
For over 150 years, St Xavier’s College, Fort, has served large number of students from different backgrounds. It is known to be one of India’s foremost educational institutions as it has given the country innumerable luminaries in the fields of business, media, entertainment, technology, science and education.
To commemorate these 150 glorious years, the college will host a gala event on January 3, 2019 at the Cooperage Football Ground, Colaba. This will be a fundraising Alumni Dinner and will bring together alumni across decades, teachers, students and the Jesuit priests.
The alumni includes businessmen, bureaucrats, policy makers, bankers, media honchos and creative wizards, who will be attending this event. The event programme will feature Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan, and multiple musicians - prominent alumni who will perform solo, duets and group items. Also, the luminaries include journalists Sharda Ugra, Neeta Kolhatkar, Leela Jacinto and Naresh Fernandes.
The event will feature a musical by students, teachers, Jesuits and alumni. Ashish Bhasin, Chairman and CEOSouth Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network and an alumnus of St Xavier’s College said, “This is a great opportunity for all the alumni of this wonderful institution to come together with old friends and kick off the sesquicentennial year celebrations.”
