Man, accused of stalking, attempts to commit suicide at police station

A 48-year-old man, accused of stalking, attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison inside Amboli police station on Tuesday afternoon. The man, Jaysingh Chauhan (48), was arrested on November 16 for stalking two women in Amboli. Chauhan was rushed to the civic run hospital for further treatment. On Tuesday afternoon, afternoon Chauhan shot a video of himself, in which he said, he was committing suicide and sent it to many. In the video, Chauhan said, he and his family were being tormented by police over the false allegation­s levelled against him. Chauhan also accused police inspector Daya Nayak and senior police inspector Bharat Gaikwad of Amboli police station for treating him badly and blamed them for driving him to commit suicide. Around 2.00pm on Tuesday, Chauhan walked into Amboli police station, where he had gulped down a bottle of poison, said police. Bharat Gaikwad, the senior police inspector of Amboli police station said, “Chauhan dropped in at Amboli police station, unannounce­d. He was not summoned or externed in the case, as he has alleged in the video. When Chauhan reached the police station, he collapsed in the hallway.”

On November 15, a women filed a complaint against Chauhan and his two friends--Ganesh Jadhav (40) and Ravindra Jadhav (38) for passing lewd comments on her. Based on the informatio­n, police inspector Daya Nayak had arrested the accused trio on November 16 and handed them over to DN Nagar police, as the area where the incident occurred falls in the jurisdicti­on of DN Nagar police station.
