Everything is awesome
It’s rare when a sequel is as good if not better than the original toon and this second instalment in the toy-based franchise comes embellished with a little live action and loads of fun.
Kids are the primary audience I suppose but accompanying adults will be thoroughly entertained too by the film which underlines themes of perseverance, teamwork, cooperation being true to oneself and accepting people they way they are.
There aren’t too many spiritual references this time around, but let’s not forget the unambiguous nod to Scripture in the name of the sweet, self-effacing hero (Chris Pratt, voice) Emmet which means ‘truth’ in Hebrew. Mine means Little Song.
Speaking of which, the songs on the sound track are foot-tapping and singable, from the ‘Catchy Song’,‘Everything is awesome’ to ‘Gotham City Guys’ sung by Queen Watevra WaNabi (voiced by Tiffany Haddish) .
In hot pursuit to rescue them from Watevra’s Sisstar system, Emmetfinds help from an unexpected quarter, a rugged space cowboy (alsovoiced by Pratt) but everything is not what it seems. Expect then lotsof chases, battles and music, glorious music. The Lego Movie 2 isentertaining and awesome (well, almost).
This is reportedly Farhan Akhtar’s debut film as an actor but the reason why it couldn’t get a release is shrouded in mystery. Worse films have made it to the theatres since, so quality was not the deciding factor and neither was saleability because Farhan Akhtar’s star has been on the ascendant both as director and actor, ever since Dil Chahta Hain and Rock On hit the screens.
