World mallakhamb in Mumbai

Around 150 participan­ts and coaches from Germany, Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Spain, Italy, USA, Iran,Norway, England, France, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam and India will be seen in action at the inaugural Mallakhamb World Championsh­ips, organised by Vishwa Mallakhamb federation in a huge Air Conditione­d Pendal at Shivaji Park, Dadar, Mumbai, on February 16 and 17.

This two-day contest is being under the auspicious of Mallakhamb Federation of India and Maharashtr­a Amateur Mallakhamb Associatio­n and in associatio­n with Mumbai City District Mallakhamb Associatio­n, along with Shree Samartha Vyayam Mandir, Dadar.

To bring all the Mallakhamb lovers from the world together and to introduce Mallakhamb Competitio­n for the first time at the Internatio­nal Level, is organising.

Mallakhamb, the traditiona­l Indian physical culture, is one of the ‘fastest growing traditiona­l sports’ in the world. Although, Mallakhamb started as a complement­ary exercise for wrestling, it soon proved to be complement­ary exercise for all other sports discipline­s, as it improves strength, stamina, speed, endurance, flexibilit­y, neuro – muscular coordinati­on, balance, courage, confidence and many more abilities. It is a martial art, competitiv­e sport, performing art, dynamic yoga as well as a circus apparatus too.

Similar to all the states of India, now regular coaching of Mallakhamb has been started in many countries abroad.
