Cop’s wife seeks justice after hubby cheats on her

The wife of a police constable, attached to the Local Arms unit of Worli police station, has taken to Twitter to pour her feelings on Tuesday. She has demanded justice, alleging, she was cheated by her husband, who works for Mumbai police. The woman, Priyanka Kamble, a resident of Chinchwad and wife of Jaypal Kamble, has accused him of cheating on her. She has also demanded he should be suspended from his service, pending investigation.

Priyanka posted on Tuesday, tweeted, her husband has married another woman without her knowledge and also has two children from the other woman. Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Priyanka said her entire marriage is based on lies. “After their wedding in 2010, Jaypal asked me to stay at my parents place claiming, he was not allotted the staff quarter. However, when he did not return for over six months, I visited Mumbai. To my horror, I found my husband staying in a police quarter and worse still, he was having an affair with another woman. When I confronted him, he abused me and asked me to leave his house.”

Soon after that incident, Priyanka approached Chinchwad police and registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, which exempts from punishment a second marriage contracted seven years after the absence of the spouse (section 494). Priyanka said, “My husband asked for an out-of-court settlement wit me, but later backed off saying he was not interested in staying with me and I should leave him. I have been fighting cases in the court for several years, while he continues to enjoy his life in the police force and has a blissful marital life.”

Priyanka has also met several senior police officials of the Mumbai police, who told her they could do little since it was their personal matter. On Monday, Priyanka tried meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Subodh Jaiswal, but was unable to do so. However, a day later, she was informed the matter has been forwarded to the concerned officers for investigation. “Why is he still being retained?” asks Priyanka.

When The Free Press Journal contacted police constable Jaypal Kamble, he refuted all allegations and said, “It is an old court case and I do not wish to comment on it any further.”
