Lawyer duped of `1cr on promise of flat in Andheri

-

The businessman, who was arrested last year for stalking and cheating an actor, Mohammad Sarfaraz alias Aman Khanna, has now been accused of cheating a lawyer of Rs1 crore, promising him a flat at Yari Road, Andheri.

According to police sources, the accused had introduced himself to the lawyer as a developer, who had some reasonably priced flats in Juhu and Andheri for sale. Further, the accused entered into a deal with the lawyer in October 2014, after which the latter paid him Rs1 crore in part payments through real time gross settlement (RTGS) and was to pay more.

Requesting confidentiality, the lawyer told the FPJ Sarfaraz promised to give him the flat at no-loss no-profit basis, since he was the first customer of the project. He was offered a partnership in the business. To raise the money, the lawyer sold his Chunabhatti flat and paid Sarfaraz Rs1 crore for the Andheri property.

“When the actor complained about him in 2018, I grew suspicious. Four years ago, I had paid him Rs1 crore and was promised I would get the flat in three years. Whenever I asked him about possession, he made lame excuses. I decided to file an FIR against him on February 8, at Cuffe Parade police station,” said the lawyer.

“An FIR has been registered against the accused. A probe is underway,” said Abhisekh Trimukhe, DCP zone 1.
