Girl, 3, mother killed, dad injured in Thane accident Trailer truck hits bike from rear on Ghodbunder road

Two members of a family died, including their threeyear-old girl child, while the father suffered minor injuries after a container truck rammed into their bike at Ghodbunder road on Thursday night.

The deceased are identified as Chandravati Vishwakarma (31), daughter Pranjal Vishwakarma (3), while the husband Dilip Vishwakarma (33) suffered minor injuries.

They lived at Brahmand area in Thane. Chandravati was a teacher by profession, while Dilip worked at a private firm. On the day of the mishap, Chandravati and her daughter were at their maternal home in Mira Road. Dilip left from office and went there and to bring them when the accident happened at Bhayandarpada on the Ghodbunder road. A speeding container truck from the same direction rammed into their bike from behind.

police station said, "The woman fell off the bike and was crushed under the container truck. Her daughter also fell off on the road and suffered deep head injuries and Dilip suffered minor injuries on his body."

Police rushed to the spot and took them to the hospital where Chandravati was declared dead on admission, while Dilip and Pranjal were admitted in the hospital, where the latter died during the treatment. The police has seized the container truck.

Kasarwadavli police arrested the truck driver, Chandrashekhar Birju and a case was registered under section 304(A) 337,338, of the Indian Penal Code and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
